On March 28, a major earthquake of magnitude 7.7 struck central Myanmar.
The epicenter was located near Mandalay in central Myanmar, the second largest city in Myanmar with a population of over 1 million. Subsequently, large aftershocks also occurred in various parts of Myanmar.
As of April 1, the death toll exceeded 2,700, with the possibility of more than 3,000.
The number of injured is estimated to be over 4,000, and hundreds of people are still missing.
Rescue efforts are still ongoing.
Many buildings have collapsed and fires have broken out since the earthquake. Much of the infrastructure has also been affected, making life difficult for citizens. Water, food, shelter, and medical supplies are in short supply in the affected areas, and countries are now beginning to provide assistance.
