On September 27, 7CEE accompanied the president of a Japanese secondhand goods retailer to Mae Sot, Thailand, and supported their market research efforts.
The local market where junk holds value
Used goods considered nearly worthless in Japan were traded by the container load in Mae Sot, filling the market to overflowing. We observed how these items, highly practical for local people, circulated as essential goods supporting daily life.
New business opportunities
Through this survey, we have demonstrated that new demand exists for products considered waste within Japan. This indicates the potential for new businesses based on reuse and recycling, and we believe it can also lead to the development of sustainable business models.
Future Outlook
At 7CEE, we actively pursue business opportunities in Southeast Asia’s growing markets and provide full support for Japanese companies expanding overseas. We also offer local research and business matching opportunities for businesses interested in the used goods and reuse industry.
